The Fusion of Fashion & Art Through The Colour Red
Our next exhibit in the boutique and gallery taking place during the months of November and December.
Red is the colour of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, war, danger, power and determination as well as passion, desire, and love. Red is a very emotionally intense colour. For the months of November and December, we associate red with Remembrance Day poppies and festive holidays such as Christmas. In Chinese culture, red is the colour for good luck. In Indian culture it symbolizes purity and is often used in wedding gowns.
This unusual exhibit is tied together by one colour. Consider the transforming colour of red when hanging a painting in your home.
In the gallery Linda Banfalvi will explore the personality of the colour red through her abstracted florals and landscapes. Local painters Barbara Chappelle and Judith Savic explore the theme through stunning abstracts. Suzanne Powell and Hawa Kaba are multimedia collage artists from Ottawa and are influenced by Asia and Africa. Kristi Bird, Linda Rush, Caroline Evans, Jenn Raby and Rob Laffier are inspired by the realism of red in nature through acrylics, oils and batiks. Heather Lovett Fraser creates whimsical painted villages. Beth Wyngaarden and Anita Payne explore red through quilting.
